here's the last installment of my hong kong photographs; there's tons more, but these are just my absolute favorites. these pictures all revolve around historical aspects of hong kong, and the different places that we visited during our stay. an absolutely huge buddha statue; it's almost 120 feet tall. it's on lantau island, at ngong ping (same place where i took pictures with the pups). it was definitely a sight to behold, albeit a bit touristy.
speeding cars in front of our hotel. the streets were always busy, from motorcycles to double-decker buses. i can't even count the amount of times that one of us was almost creamed by a vehicle.
one of the temples at ngong ping; this one was one of my favorites that we had visited during the trip. the building itself was gorgeous, and the surrounding gardens were incredibly picturesque.
i'm not exactly sure what this was, but it was literally covered in gold and smack dab in the middle of the nan lian gardens. it didn't look like a usable building, sort of like one of those mini-golf buildings that are just a shell. please correct me if i'm wrong!
one of the pavilions in kowloon park; this was the park that was right behind our hotel with all of the colorful flowers.
an exhibit at the hong kong history museum - definitely one of the most interesting places we visited. you get the entire historical account of the islands, from their formation to modern day.
i couldn't help myself. all of the bicycles i saw in hong kong looked exactly like this - same style, same age, etc. i really love the back basket.
this sort of looks like tilt shift photography, right? it's another one of the dioramas at the hong kong history museum.
this better shows the massive size of the buddha from the first picture. i really wish that it came out a bit clearer, the fog was working against me.
i wish i knew the name of this shrine! it was on the top of a large hill nearby stanley; we hiked to the top and were lucky enough to catch the end of a celebration. there was confetti everywhere!
carvings on the outside of a temple. hilarious side story: i uploaded these pictures on facebook and the automatic face recognition tried to match the faces to my facebook friends. hahaha!
boats in the harbor; i love how you can just make out the fisherman in the back.
that concludes my recap posts! hopefully the barrage of photos wasn't too much to handle, i really had to pare them down. if you are ever planning a trip to hong kong in the future and would like to know any details about the places i visited, or have any questions please don't hesitate to email me. i'm by no means an expert, but i did a decent amount of research and i'd be glad to share it with you.
