we had such a crazy night last night. bryan was tinkering with our ninja blender, trying to make a blackberry gin fizz. the blade in the bottom was stuck, so he put his hand in and tried to pull it out.
bad idea.
he ended up with a giant gash on his finger. i didn't think it was too bad at first, so we wrapped it in a ton of paper towels and he held his hand above his head. when the bleeding didn't stop an hour later, we decided to take a trip to the emergency room. i think visiting earlier might have been a good idea, but when you live in philadelphia, a hospital trip is not a in-and-out kind of thing. you're going to be there for at least 3 hours, no matter how small the injury. we debated for awhile and did a lot of google-ing ("how to do you know when you need to go to the hospital for stitches?") and called the hospital for advice, and they said we should come in. unfortunately, the hospital we ended up going to was having one of their busiest days in a long time. we waited and waited and waited, and bryan was finally seen by a nurse. after waiting some more, he finally got stitches (7 of them). i am not good with blood/needles (i think i felt more queasy than bryan did) so i waited out in the hallway (where i was yelled at by a nutty guy wearing an oxygen mask). thankfully, bryan is all sewed (barf) up and bandaged.
it seems like everyone is having a rough week so far, between family deaths to crazy work schedules to sickness. it always feels like bad things come in groups - it's never really just one at a time. here's to hoping that everything turns around soon!
