i ended up getting a small ornate frame, a 40's quilt (i'm trying to clean it and fix it up now, things are going surprisingly well) and a tiny gold leather change purse.
estate sale finds.
i went to an estate sale on saturday morning; it was advertised as being full of antique toys and advertising materials, and that it was. the man was only in his 40's, but had stuffed the house full of board games, costumes, craft kits, photographs, books, magazines, and records from the 40's to 60's. at first i thought that he was selling the house for an elderly parent, but turns out that he's just a collector. i bought these books for the illustrations; i think i'm going to cut out or photocopy the pages i like and hang them around the house.
my haul.
"andersen's fairy tales". there's no date on the book, but i'm guessing it's from the 30's or 40's.
the black and white illustrations in the book are absolutely beautiful.
from "tiny tim rides twinkle toes". i thought this illustration was really cute.
i absolutely love the cover of this book. it's a book of poems for children from '57, and the illustrations inside are so colorful and bright.
