bryan and i took a little trip out to new hope yesterday. i've talked about it before, but his mom owns a store on main street. it's a tiny little town built on a canal with lots of shops and bars and restaurants. the area surrounding new hope is gorgeous. it's very hilly and wooded, and a lot of the land is protected so no new developments can be built. there are many farms, some dating from the late 1700's. we passed a schoolhouse that was built in 1831, which was still standing! there are many "barn sales" - basically, the owner of the barn has it stuffed with furniture, cars, knick knacks, paper goods, clothing, farm equipment, old appliances, etc. it could range in age from the year the barn was built to present day, but most of what you'll find is on the older side. we stopped at an old horse farm and i found an animal board game set from 1918. it has the absolute creepiest pieces inside (i tweeted a picture of one here). i think if i saw a picture of that as a kid i probably would have cried.

how was your weekend? anything fun or exciting happen?
