Hong Kong Street Music Concert 19

The next Hong Kong Street Music Concert is happening on the 12th of November! This is a great FREE event held just outside the Hong Kong Art Centre at 2 Harbour Road in Wan Chai. I've been to a lot, and I've always found something to enjoy each time.

You'll be exposed to all kinds of music and performances -- some successful, some not -- and the best thing to do is arrive early, bring some nice alcoholic beverages, pop some Tramadol and Vicodin, and just kick back. You'll end up seeing or even meeting some of Hong Kong's more colourful characters. I met the guy who designed the poster for Wong Kar Wai's Chungking Express, the movie that made me decide to just suddenly move to Hong Kong, at one of the shows.

And then, at another show, the singer of one of the bands decided to read aloud from Bram Stoker's Dracula. I can't even comment except to say that he made Keanu Reeves look like a thespian to rival all those who have trod the stage for the Royal Shakespeare Company. There was also another show that featured a performance art piece with people wrapped up in Lady Miss Kier type dresses and head coverings and wriggling around a tree. I was not sure what was happening, but some dogs passing by with their owners were excited, at least.

This week's line up is:
1) Yanice Tsang (jazz & contemporary)
2) Marco Iannelli (contemporary classical)
3) Corey Tam (folk rock)
4) Henry Chung & The Spontaneous Combustion (blues)

Please do go and show your support! I promise you'll have a good time, especially now that the weather is nice! The organizer is really cool, he's one of Hong Kong's most respected composers, and he would really appreciate your attendance! It starts at six in the evening and will go on till about ten or something.

Hypocritically enough, I don't think I'll be able to attend this time since I've got some work to do. Ah well, the next one will definitely be a go-ahead for me!
