Night Protest

Last night, while returning home from the Hong Kong Arts Centre (and I'm a fool who forgot to photograph anything. I blame it on my painkiller abuse), my bus got stuck in traffic due to a protest.

I'm not really sure what the protest was about, I couldn't see the signs clearly enough. However, I did take some pictures to show what protests are like in Hong Kong. Usually, they're very orderly, often loud, but since it was late at night, people were nice enough to keep the noise level down.

Mostly, I was looking for the handsome police officers to take pictures of, but I couldn't get a clear shot. Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan are the only countries where I feel really safe and comfortable around the police. They are so professional and so courteous. I feel really lucky that I am privileged enough to have mostly had good experiences with Hong Kong law enforcement, even when they're stopping me for looking like a suspicious character.

Because of my tattoos (and sometimes, my clothing), once in a while, I'll get stopped on the streets and get my ID checked. When I'm not in a hurry, I don't really mind. I'm glad the police are doing their job.

I might as well also apologize in advance because my posting might be a bit spotty in the next week. I'm really busy and often don't bring my camera with me when I go out, so some entries might just be talking about etiquette or little things that people should know about Hong Kong. But after the 18th of December, I'll be back to putting up entries everyday.

I tried to use Photoshop to turn this into a tilt photograph thing but I don't think it turned out very well.
