Fotanian 2011, Part 2

Yikes, I didn't realize how many pictures I took, so I'll have to do one more entry after this. Generally speaking, the artists ranged from mediocre to very talented. I think a lot of them had great ideas but didn't have the resources to execute them well.

Also, one of the things I learned as I grew up is that anyone can have a clever or witty idea, but it's how to expand it into a theme and universalize it that separates you from the rest. Of course, here I am expounding on art when I don't even dare call myself an artist. I feel comfortable calling myself a goldsmith because I'm official, but I would say I illustrate and write, rather than call myself an illustrator or writer, even though I've been paid for those two types of work, too.

Anyway, that's just me being self-conscious. Remember, you can still go to the Fotanian next weekend. It's just an MTR ride to Shatin Station and then the 60K minibus to the main building or a ride to Fotan Station, exit A and then a 10-minute walk to the main building.

Now, the art. Apparently, this series of work was about abuse. Saw it last year, actually.

I photographed this mostly because the painting on the lower right looks like an ex-boyfriend, haha. It's funny how you never think of someone and then things like this pop up.

The artist whose work is in the following pictures also gave me a cookie. What a sweet kid! I ended up buying a packet of cookies from him, it's a business he and his friend are running. You can find them on Facebook here.

This is just too cute, the slippers are stamps!

See?

A different artist this time, with nipple CD holders.

This one had me smiling.

The artist's business card.

Chocolates (which I don't like)!
