This entry is more for Hong Kong residents than visitors, I would say. If you come to Hong Kong and eat here, shame on you.
My pregnant friend wanted to eat at an affordable buffet, so she picked Cafe MoMo at the Marriott Courtyard on 167 Connaught Road West in Sai Ying Pun.
You can have a salad buffet, a pasta and noodle buffet or a dessert buffet for HKD88 (plus service charge and a tiny tip, it's basically HKD100). You can also combine two buffets for an additional something. I can't remember because we only opted for the pasta and noodle buffet. I'm not going to spend HKD100 eating vegetables.
It was surprisingly quiet even though it was lunch rush.
Our booth.
The noodle section of the buffet is Mongolian barbecue style. You pick up a metal bowl and fill it with the noodles, meat, vegetables, etc. that you like. Then you hand it to the chef and choose a stock base.
Vegetable choices.
Noodle choices.
Meat choices. The beef balls (middle left) had a really processed texture.
Toppings and condiments. On the left are the choices for the pasta section.
Salad bar, blech.
Dress it up all you like, it's still just vegetables. Don't get me wrong, I love vegetables, but I don't eat raw shit. If God had wanted me to eat uncooked leaves, I would be running in Happy Valley right now with a bulimic midget on my back.
Dessert buffet. The selection is too limited, don't you think?
First up was carbonara. It was alright. Again, I'm picky when it comes to Italian food, but for all-you-can-eat HKD88, it was acceptable.
Noodles in satay soup base. Not spicy enough, but otherwise, quite good. I chose the sesame noodles, and they were excellent. I almost forgot to take a picture and this is after I'd eaten half.
Oh, I forgot to mention that you can get soup. This is cream of broccoli, there was a broth-based soup as well that I forgot to photograph.
Spaghetti bolognese. A bit sweet but better than the carbonara.
Kitchen closes at 230 pm, by the way.
