Are spa weeks a good deal?

Are spa weeks a good deal?

If you need some stress relief or some pampering, there are some discounts coming up, but not all of them are the best deals available.
Spas and some fitness centers are holding two competing joint marketing campaigns:  Spa Finder Wellness Week is March 21-27,  then a different event, Spa Week will be held April 11-17. Spa Week began in New York in 2004.
"Spa Week is a week when various spas in multiple cities across the United States offer specials to give price breaks to the average consumer to attract new clientele," said Celia Tully, Markering Director and Partner in Metro Atlanta's Natural Body Spas Natural Body Spas are offering facials and massages that retail for $80 and $85 for $50.
29 Spa at the Mansion on Peachtree has similar deals during Wellness Week. "Services that we would normally charge $115, we are actually offering them for $50," said Director Karen Shawn.
Natural Body and 29 Spa are two of the more well known among dozens of spas offering discounts during the promotional weeks. Others are more obscure and less established, so spa seekers may be required to do some homework.
How to know if you're getting a good deal?
"I think people need to go to a company's website and look at their prices for services and do a comparison," Tully said.
Also check consumer online review sites like Yelp and City Search.
And keep in mind there are great deals on spa treatments throughout the year on daily deal sites like Groupon and Half Off DepotFor example, earlier this week there was a one hour $40 Clean Facial atBlue Med SpaThe spa is offering a same or similar treatment during Wellness Week for $50 for 45 minutes.
A spokesperson for Blue Med Spa said the $40 price on Half Off Depot was an error and is being changed to $45.
Spa lovers can book treatments now at Spa Week and Spa Finder Wellness Week.
