with spring right around the corner, i'm more and more inclined to leave the hubbub of philadelphia and head out to rural pennsylvania. my dad still lives in the area where i grew up, over an hour from the city. it's incredibly quiet (especially compared to philadelphia) and peaceful; it's nice not worrying about locking the car doors, and being able to leave the house with the windows open. when i was little, i sometimes slept on the front porch in the summer, covered only with a light sheet. the house is on the very top of a hill that overlooks the small town and surrounding countryside, dotted with trees and farms. the front porch spans the length of the house, and isn't covered by a roof or anything - perfect for falling asleep and staring at the stars. as much as a love it there, i spent the majority of my teenage years counting down the minutes until i could move to a city. i definitely think it was a good idea to spend time here, and i'm happy that i was able to experience urban living - but i'm starting to want to move back. i know it's silly, but i miss having grass; philadelphia does have it's share of parks and tree-lined streets, but there's something to be said for a large yard, privacy, and falling sleep to crickets and owls, not the roar of SEPTA bus speeding down the street.

the pups and i are headed to my dad's house today; he was able to leave work early (something that never happens), so we're going to go for a long walk, visit some thrift stores, and run errands. i'm going to a huge education job fair tomorrow so i need to make about, oh, 100 copies of my resume.

ps: it's hump day. heh heh.
