My ex-husband is really into war games. I actually would love to play -- I was a civilian cadet officer in high school -- but I'm too bossy and impatient with people. If only there was a kind of Predator-type war game available for loners. Also, I should add that I don't own any flat shoes.
Anyway, I don't have the time to visit each and every war games shop in Hong Kong, but I did find a Web site that lists them out with links over here.
Most war games take place over in the New Territories. If I recall correctly, it's quite cheap if you're in a large group, something like HKD200 per person, and that includes lunch. If you want to participate, you can ask at the war games shops for contact information, transportation, etc.
Do be careful about walking around on the street in war games gear. My ex-husband got stopped by the cops when he was ambling around in fatigues and weapons at 6 AM, and he had some explaining to do at the police station.
Anyway, he very nicely gave me some photos of one of his adventures a few years back, which I posted on a different blog, but I thought people would appreciate seeing them here. I promised to protect people's identities, so I put black bars over their faces.
My ex-husband's tips for a happy and successful war games experience are:
1) Bring bug repellent.
2) Bring lots of water.
3) Bring snacks, but don't eat them while you're playing or your own teammates will shoot you in da rass for making noise.
4) Wear a hat (he never explained why).
5) Bring tissues. Fussy people should also bring hand towels and Wet Wipes.
6) Bring sunscreen.
7) Wear contacts.
8) Bring extra socks and t-shirt.
9) Always have one person you don't like on your team that you can sacrifice or use as bait.
