Philippines and Mountain House’s very own Thia Megia may have been booted out of “American Idol” but her dream as a singer definitely won’t stop there.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW) after the show’s elimination night on Thursday (Friday in Manila), Megia admitted that she had conflicting feelings about getting the boot.

“I felt devastated but at the same time I was happy about the other contestants. I’m also happy about myself knowing that making it this far and will be on tour, I’m gonna be able to do so much more,” she said.

Having been criticized for singing slow and ballad songs, Megia said she doesn’t regret performing “Daniel” during the Elton John week. She said she did it for her brother.

“I felt really happy about my song choice because I know I can do so much more than just slower songs and ballads. But I dedicated that song to my big brother. I wouldn’t have changed it if I could because I put so much emotion to it. It’s all that matters,” she said.

“Last night I know I sang a slower song but it wasn’t about that. It was pretty much about the emotion and that’s why I did it and I’m happy about it,” Megia added.

Megia also told EW that despite the occasional tough comments from the judges, she still appreciates what they thought of her performances.

“Jennifer (Lopez) said she’s gonna miss me and she said that I got a beautiful voice and they told me that this is definitely not the end for me. They’ve been absolutely amazing. Randy (Jackson) has given me some tough comments but I appreciate the comments, all that he said to me, because I’ve learned from all of those comments,” she said.

Asked how she sees herself in the future now that her life as a celebrity has already begun, she said: “In the future, I see me as my own artist and definitely not a ballad singer. I want to be young and fresh and funky but I just want that chance to actually show America that I’m not just that. I’m me, I’m Thia and I’ve got a whole bunch of sides.”

Thia Megia from AI Sings 'Daniel' during AI's Elton John Week

Is Filipino-American finalist Thia Megia's chance to become the next “American Idol (AI)” in jeopardy this week?

The 15-year-old singer returned to her slow and sappy singing style during Wednesday’s episode of the show that featured Elton John hits.

Some people were not happy with her version of "Daniel," with one saying that she needed "to put feeling into it."

Megia, who has mainly performed ballad songs since the show started, has also been criticized “for staying inside the box,” according to an online article.

An unsatisfied Randy Jackson, for one, noted that her performance “was very safe.”

"There were a couple pitch issues. It was very safe," he said.

Last week, she drew praises, specifically from the show’s judges, for her out of the box performance, with her rendition of Motown group Martha and the Vandellas’ "Heatwave."

Others have predicted that Megia will land in the bottom 3 along with Naima Adedapo and Stefano Langone.

If there were negative feedback, others were very impressed with her.

Celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler commended the young singer, with Lopez saying "it was a beautiful moment for you."

Tyler, on the other hand, said: "You sang a great Elton John song well."

Finalists James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, meanwhile, reportedly delivered impressive performances.

Two contestants will be eliminated on Thursday (US time).

Thia Megia lands at American Idol "bottom 3"; but avoids elimination

Thia Megia stayed with American Idol's top 11 despite landing at the bottom 3 after her performance on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).

Megia won praise from Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson for her rendition of Martha and the Vandellas' "Heatwave."

However, it wasn't enough for the American Idol viewers as she was relegated to the bottom 3 along with Casey Abrams and Stefano Langone.

Thia was the first to be sent back to safety while Abrams was forced to sing for the judges' save for getting the lowest number of votes.

However, he was interrupted in the middle of his performance of Ray Charles' "I Don't Need No Doctor" after Jackson said the judges would use their one-time power to save him from elimination.

The use of the judges' save means 2 Idol contestants will be booted out next week.

Thia Megia Fails to Impress AIl Judges: Report

Following her strong performances in the past week, Filipino-American Thia Megia, the 15-year-old “American Idol (AI)” finalist, on Wednesday night (US time) failed to impress the judges of the talent competition.

According to an Associated Press report, Megia received not so flattering remarks from judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Tyler after her rendition of Vanessa Williams’ “Colors of the Wind.”

The finalists sang tunes from the year they were born.

Jackson, for one, said it felt like he was at “some pageant somewhere” after watching her performance, the report added.

The report said finalists Haley Reinhart and Karen Rodriguez also failed to wow the 3 judges.

One of the 12 remaining AI finalists will be eliminated on Thursday (US time).

Fil-Am Thia Megia Wows 'American Idol' Judges

Thia Megia, a Filipino-American contestant of “American Idol Season 10,” wowed the show’s celebrity judges during its semifinal round on Wednesday (US time), an online report of USA Today said.

According to the report, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were all praises for one of the show’s youngest performers with her rendition of “Out Here on My Own” from the musical “Fame.”

Tyler was impressed by her perfect pitch, while Lopez said Megia’s performance was “really, really special.”

Jackson, meantime, said: "This is what hot singing is about!"

"Jackson loves the quality of the tone of her voice – she reminds him of a young Michael Jackson,” the report said.

“Thia starts quietly, and a cappella. It's a fine performance, if a little bit of an old-fashioned song choice -- and a bit ironic, since three of her fellow contestants tonight attended to the Fame school in New York,” the report added.

Megia received a standing ovation from the audience after her performance.

Megia is said to be the next Charice, the 18-year-old Filipino international singing sensation who is taking the international music scene by storm.

From 24 contestants, only 5 men and 5 women will advance to the final round. The results of the semifinal round will be known on Thursday night (US time).

The judges will also choose 2 "wild cards" from among the contestants who fail to make it to the finals.
