a very scholastic outfit, no? i thrifted this vest a couple of weeks ago and i knew that this was one i was going to keep for myself. it's vintage saks (ooh, fancy!) and has the prettiest cable-knit. i paired it with a light weight plaid shirt, which you may remember from this post. i've actually had this necklace for years, but i never know what to pair it with. it almost reminds me of a collar, so i wore it tucked under the plaid shirt. i actually can't believe that these shoes have held up so well; i bought them when we were on our honeymoon in amsterdam. i trekked all over the city in them and kind of expected the heel to snap off. surprisingly, they're just fine! the quality was much better than i thought.
we had a field trip to an insectarium today. it was essentially my worst nightmare. if you follow me on twitter, you saw what the absolute worst part of the trip was. there was a fake kitchen and bathroom enclosed in a glass wall. there were boxes of food on the kitchen counter and dishes, and the bathroom had toothbrushes and towels. and the entire area was infested with...
cockroaches.
i was literally gagging. the tour guide sprayed water (which apparently roaches love) so that they all came scurrying out. on the second floor, there were also thousands of dead insects pinned to corkboards that lined the walls of the room. the third floor had all of the live insects, like giant spiders and scorpions and millipedes and three-inch-long roaches. of course, the kids decided that they wanted to hold the roaches. shudder. i don't think you could pay me enough money to touch one. i still cringe whenever i think about it and we left the place almost 4 hours ago.
any plans for this weekend? i am so excited for tomorrow. there's an estate sale with a lifetime accumulation of furniture, clothing, housewares, and clothing from the 1880's on. i'm also driving to allentown for a long day of thrifting. hopefully i'll find some goodies to share with y'all!
