thrifted finds: vintage posters.

i thought i'd share these adorable posters that i found at an auction recently. they were stuffed into a giant ziploc bag, buried under piles of tools and broken dishes and wet towels. they're from highlights magazine (remember that one? i loved it!) from the early 60's. i bought 12 of them, plus a snoopy poster from '53 for the grand sum of...$1. not bad, huh? my favorite is definitely the boy scout one, followed by the american education week and flag day. i haven't decided exactly where they're going yet, but i'm leaning towards our bedroom.

nothing says romance like a bunch of cartoon children.

of course, i had to pick up this vintage (late 50's) bicycle advertisement. i think it's hilarious that "don't show off!" was a tip.

sunnies.

sunglasses: vintage
shirt: american apparel

i found these sunglasses when steph and i went thrifting last week, and i'm kind of in love with them. i have a bad track record with eyewear; i lose my glasses all the time (record time was 6 weeks, i buy the 2 for $99 so i don't feel so bad) and i've been know to leave my sunglasses on the seat of the car and sqaush them. i don't necessarily think that it's a result of carelessness, as i do take good care of the things that i own - just me being absentminded. you can understand why i never check the sunglass racks at the thrift store, but for some reason i ended up at that case in the store. i saw these ridiculously large circle shaped specs, and picked them right up. for $1.21 (weird price, right?) i won't feel too badly when i inevitably break them.
