this is my outfit from the oley fair last weekend; super simple, right? it actually took me forever to work out. i planned everything around the boots for a chictopia contest (the first i've ever entered - if you feel so inclined, you can vote for me here). i've been holding on to this gorgeous baby blue gingham skirt for over a year now; i just had no idea what to wear it with. i definitely didn't want to wear a white top - it seems like such an easy choice. i also needed something slightly fitted to balance out the tons of volume in the skirt. not too hard, right?

oh, except that i needed something that would also not look completely insane at a fair where most people are wearing muck boots and an american flag deer shirt. this means no: sequins, crazy ruffles, lace, chiffon, or ribbons. boo.

as i was digging through my drawers, i remembered this super-soft cotton tank - perfect appropriate for the fair. and the pale pink color? perfect with the baby blue print. the trio of diagonal buttons snazzed things up a bit. after the straw boater hat, a thin leather belt, and a wicker purse (and some crazy-messy hair), the outfit was complete. simple, but perfect for the end of summer.

ps - i know some lovely ladies commented about a tutorial for my 'hive - would you be interested in that?
