i didn't know what to expect of the campground, or the experience as a whole. the last time i went hiking/camping, i was 10 or 11 years old, and with my family in washington state. my dad told me that any water that was moving was safe to drink without a purification tablet.
not true.
i spent a couple of days barfing all over the place. i've been pretty hesitant to go camping since the whole bad-water incident, but really wanted to use our new tent. it turns out i had nothing to worry about; bryan picked out a perfect campground. our site was right next to the "comfort station", and across the road from the lake. there were kayak and paddleboat rentals, as well as bikes to ride around on. we went on a long walk around the lake at sunset, grilled burgers, drank a whole bunch of beer (midas touch for me!), and made s'mores.
during our walk around the campgrounds, i saw a gorgeous airstream trailer. once i actually have a backyard, i'd love to put one of these in the back and turn it into my studio:
tent set-up was smooth sailin'. we had everything up and running and organized in less than an hour.
our campsite was full of these tiny little frogs - the blended in so well with the crunchy brown leaves that you wouldn't know they were there until you saw the leaves move as you walked by.
jon and amanda peered into the water...
and you know i couldn't hold off on a couple of sunset photographs - my absolute favorite.
