Joining Haji on Tai Ping Shan Street is the wonderfully-curated Gallery de Vie. This shop used to be on Gough Street but rising rents forced them to move to their new location.
I cannot stress enough how excellently the pieces here are edited. The owners of the shop truly care about craft and design and choose the most unique and beautifully-made pieces from small, often avant-garde, designers. The selection is currently from Japan and Europe, but the owners buy whatever catches their fancy.
Obviously things here are not cheap (accessories already begin at over HKD1,000), but really, if I weren't in the middle of saving right now, I would not hesitate to support these small designers by purchasing their creations.
If you're in Hong Kong to shop, why spend your money on a big label that everyone else owns? Why not own something truly remarkable? For example, this shrug is just divine. It's made from some kind of distressed rubber that feels like leather.
I love these pieces!
I adore fringe! I bought a fringed shawl-ish thing from DNA Galleria that I shall show off in another entry. And isn't that floral jacket with the patches just marvelous!
